“Love Hurts”

by Sophie on March 14, 2011

People say love hurts. But it’s the absence of love that hurts. Love always heals, creates, blossoms and grow.

When someone says “love hurts”, they mean “relationships can hurt”. They mean that :

  • when the love they feel is not reciprocated
  • or when the love they are used to receiving is withdrawn
  • or when what they thought was love turns out to be a complex set of all sorts of emotions
  • or when what they thought was love turns out to be control or abuse

then they say “love hurts”.

In truth it’s the absence, the negativity, the control or the abuse that hurts, not the love.

So next time you hear someone say “love hurts”, dig a little deeper and ask yourself what’s really going on and what it is that is ailing that person. Coz if it was love, they’d be feeling joyful, creative and relaxed!
