Healing Circles

by Sophie on July 26, 2010

I have been very aware recently that I work best WITH others. With a client. With a colleague. With my kids. With a friend or with my partner.

Of course I can do things on my own. In fact as an abuse survivor I am rather good at that! But I do so much better when I am in conversation with others, when I offer and receive support. It’s the magic of creating together. That is why I believe that as soon as it became aware of itself the Divine became a more ‘female aspect’ and a more ‘male aspect’: so they could rub off each other, come together, create sparks, bounce ideas off each other, create polarities of desire. Create.

Creating in supportive circles; there lies my joy at the moment!

Interesting. I have also observed and known this about myself for a long time. And this summer when I became a certified hike leader, instead of leading hikes alone as others do, I, from the first hike, have co-leading the hikes with a friend of mine. And as you say, while I can do things alone, I know my preferred style is to work with another.

That was the revelation for me Carl: that I PREFER to work with others. I was raised by overwhelmed parents to believe that I was difficult to be with and a natural loner. When in fact I am much happier working with others and am naturally cooperative.
Where do you lead the hikes?
