Enlightenment is Becoming a Necessity
Enlightenment used to belong to the privileged few. The chosen ones, the monks supported by a whole monastic structure so they could dedicate every second of every day to disciplining their mind and harnessing the ego. The odd nun might even reach enlightenment in spite of her lowly female status.
I think enlightenment is not exceptional any more. I personally meet (or read the works of) many men and women who have clearly reached what we call enlightenment. Enlightenment has become a necessity.
We don’ t have time to whisper about Divine Union in hushed poetic tones for another 4 or 5 centuries. We need to move beyond politely recognising each other without saying anything much. I think we are programmed for Divine Union. We are hard wired for enlightenment. We are constantly called by Spirit to be the best of who we can be and we know it.
I also believe that enlightenment is a result that can be replicated when you use certain mind opening and consciousness raising methods that have been proven over time.
If you have been feeling the stirrings, the longing: if you have felt the vastness and the oneness even for a second, you owe it to yourself, to the Divine, to humanity and to this beautiful earth to keep going eagerly on your path until you reach what is commonly called enlightenment.
Because on the other side of the portal that we call enlightenment, there is life in Oneness. You still pay the bills, cook and clean but with a more loving, tender emotional range. With a less grabbing, less material focus. Enlightenment is not a goal, its only a rite of passage into the life that we are really meant to be having here while in a physical body on earth. I think enlightenment is becoming a necessity if we are going to remain the masters of our technology.
